Band Competition

On November 9th, the Ramona High School Royal Alliance colorguard and band traveled up to Walnut California for a band competition. This year, the band had enough members to be a part of division 2A for the first time since 2013. Since the band increased in size, it allowed them to rank up in divisions.

Kayla Del Real, a Senior and the band's percussion coordinator, said the band took a lot of time preparing for the competition and for football games, “I think it was one of our best runs. We didn't place, but I feel like we did really well.”

As Percussion coordinator and her section leader, Del Real had to make decisions for the good of the percussionist group and improving the band's sound. “I feel like this year I've grown a lot, especially because I've stepped into more of a leadership role, and I feel like throughout band I've always had someone to look up to, and it's just this season has been more pivotal, like I've been the person that people look up to, so I've had to be stronger in my skills so I can help others grow,” she said.

Be sure to look out for announcements for color guard competitions, band concerts, and band competitions next year!
