On October 6th, the Ramona Bulldogs held the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at home for the annual Homecoming Football Game.
The bout started in favor of the Broncos as they led a touchdown drive to begin the game. It then switched gears as both teams fought for possession in the scoreless remainder of the first quarter. Early in the second quarter Running Back Adrian Enriquez was able to pinch in a 5-yard rushing touchdown.
RB answered right back with a 98-yard kick return for a touchdown, the following point after attempt, put the Broncos up 14 - 7.
The Bulldogs would make use of a failed onside kick to put them into a favorable field position. As a result, they were able to make use of the short field when Adrian Enriquez had a 4-yard rush for his second touchdown of the game. Fernando Torres’ PAT was good and the game was knotted up at 14 a piece going into the second half.
Out of halftime, the Bulldogs wasted no time as Atticus Enriquez was able to complete a 67-yard passing play to receiver Jamil Kassab for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs up but the remainder of the 3rd quarter was a defensive battle.
A successful 27-yard field goal by Fernando Torres put Ramona up 24 - 14 early in the 4th. The Broncos once again were able to answer back with a 66-yard rushing touchdown. Atticus Enriquez then led the Bulldogs on an 83-yard drive that ended in a 27-yard touchdown pass to Tight End Kirk Mitchell IV.
Ramona’s defense was able to hold strong forcing the Broncos to turnover the ball on their own 8-yard line. Quickly following this Ryan Dutra was able to seal the game with a rushing touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 37 - 21. The PAT was good which led to the final score of 38 - 21, a well-fought victory for the Bulldogs.
The win moved Ramona to 4 - 2 overall and 2 - 0 in the Palomar League (tied with Del Norte and San Marcos). The Bulldogs hope to carry this momentum of a big homecoming win into their league matchup with San
Marcos on October 13.
Top performers for the Bulldogs include Quarterback, Atticus Enriquez who went 11/15 with 165 yards and 2 Touchdowns, Running back, Adrian Enriquez who rushed for 153 yards and 2 Touchdowns on 24 carries, Safety and Linebacker Kyle Patenaude who had 13 Total tackles (7 solo and 6 assisted) and Receiver Jamil Kassab who had 112 yards and 1 Touchdown on 7 receptions.
