Community service is a great way for students to get involved at RHS and in Ramona. Not only can you get volunteer hours for college applications and job résumés, it also allows you to learn the importance of participating and being a leader in the community. Taking part in different projects provides a variety of challenges that teach you how to solve real world problems in order to help others. RHS and some of it's student run clubs like Fusion, NHS, and Just Serve offer a wide array of different community service opportunities for students.Â
 Fusion
Fusion is a club centered around developing leaders who make improvements to our campus and the surrounding area. With Mr. Plum as advisor, they have been working since the 90’s completing a huge amount of projects in that time. They have built over 50 benches and 25 tables, planted over 100 trees, and constructed many of RHS 'most defining features. Fusion meets every Tuesday at lunch or after school to work on a different section of the school, cleaning and beautifying it. Most recently they installed an R-Town sign in the quad, and planted new trees in all the planters. If this sounds interesting, students can go to Mr. Plum's office in the Counseling office to get their official fusion shirt and get the details on their next project.
NHS
NHS or the National Honors Society is a club focused on recognizing high schoolers who exhibit excellence in their academics and character. NHS encourages its members to take part and help out in the community, specifically with peer tutoring. NHS members will help students struggling in their classes during ELT, lunch, or after school. They tutor in all subjects, but mainly focus on math and science. If this sounds interesting, NHS has meetings every other Tuesday in Mr. Newells room where you can sign up to become a peer tutor.Â
Just Serve
Just Serve is a club focused on unifying people through community service. Since last year, they have been focusing on cleaning up the campus with projects like picking up trash in the Ag Lot. Just Serve also does work off campus, serving dinners for the local VFW chapter, and working with the Frosted Faces Foundation, a dog rescue in Ramona, to help elderly dogs who need homes. They are currently planning a beach cleanup which will happen in the coming weeks. Just Serve has an Instagram account where students can inquire, and they have biweekly meetings during lunch where students can learn more.Â
