RHS Social Groups

Isabelle Espinoza

10/8/25

This year, our school’s social workers Ms. Emani and Ms. Estes are introducing something new, social groups for students. They’re starting with ninth graders and hope to expand to other grades soon. These groups will be a safe space where students can talk about challenges, learn healthy coping skills, and connect with others who may be going through similar experiences.

The groups will focus on topics like stress, friendship, anxiety, and healthy relationships.

Instead of only having one-on-one meetings, there will now be two types of social groups:

  • Small groups (4–6 students): more interactive with activities, games, and practicing new skills.

  • Larger groups (10–20 students): more like a lecture, with lessons and discussions on these important topics.

“Our goal is to help students be successful in school and in life" said Ms. Emani.

If you’re interested in joining, you can sign up by talking to a social worker or checking Canvas, where a sign-up link will be posted. Groups will meet once a week during ELT, for 6-8 weeks.

Even if you don’t attend these groups, remember there are always people you can reach out to, friends, teachers, counselors, or even campus staff. Your mental health matters, and leaning on others for support can make a big difference.

By creating these groups, our school is making it easier for students to take care of their mental health, support one another, and build a stronger community.
